With the Asbestos surveys undertaken, the next stage is the actual removal of the Asbestos. This needs to be undertaken within the strict guidelines that presently exist. The landlord and/or business owner has the obligation under law to make sure that any employees or tenants are kept safe whilst the removal takes place. Normally, these people will not come into contact with asbestos on a day-to-day basis so will be generally unaware of most of the hazards associated with asbestos.
Our employees have all gone through training course, there is the annual refresher course, as well as on site training, training on new equipment and for new ways of working. Our staff are also sent for regular health checks.
Once the asbestos has been removed, not only is the building a safer place to work in, but the landlord will find it is easier and possibly cheaper to insure. Insurance companies are beginning to charge higher premiums for buildings without a working asbestos register and/or an asbestos survey.
The building will realise more on the open market if it is proven to be free from asbestos. We supply you with a pack, explaining what we achieved, drawings, a clearance certificate (from an independent laboratory) and a consignment note showing that the waste has been disposed of correctly.
We run teams of four. And the reason we run teams of four is that the smaller the teams the more quality control we can have on them. In that team of four there will be a foreman within the team. There will also be a supervisor that has overall control of that team. And then there is a check by the foreman on the work that is carried out and then it’s re-checked again by the supervisor who has overall control of the site.
When he’s satisfied that the work has been done to a satisfactory standard then an independent laboratory is called in who do a visual of the area. They carry out a four stage environmental test to see there is no fibres in the air and then they issue a reoccupation certification which they give to yourself and the Client to reassure the Client that the area is safe for re-occupation. We have habitation and how long the refurb or whatever else is going on in the building.
